It always intrigues me the way the holiest and most sinless among us seem to come out ready to crucify those of us who have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of man. Take Michael Vick for instance, he did a mean, cruel and, not to mention stupid thing; and for that, the authorities have stepped to take care of the matter. The part that gets me is when the rest of us – the animal lovers, the celebrity watcher and haters, the so-called sports fans, and not to mention the sinless among us start piling on and judging. I wish we would just let the authorities do their jobs in this matter without the rest of us egging them on.
I say Michael Vick, in his youth and indiscretion, not to mention having too much time and money on his hand completely lost his mind. He is however redeemable, as he says, he will redeem himself. I do believe him. If presidents can pardon their friends or their friends’ friends for their indiscretions and sins, why can’t ordinary people, even though it may not mean the same in practical terms, pardon their own. It may help however, in getting the authorities to ease the pressure a little. The old apothegm comes to mind - every dog has its day; so I say, give Michael Vick a break.
